The German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) have begun sending the first official letters to young men and women turning 18 this year, as part of the implementation of the new military service law.
The letters include a QR code linking to an online questionnaire designed to collect information about skills, health status, and attitudes toward military service, along with brochures and legal details.
According to German constitutional provisions, male recipients are legally required to complete the survey, while participation remains voluntary for females. The initiative is part of the government’s plan to strengthen the Bundeswehr, increase active troop numbers, and build a strong reserve force in the coming years.
