Recent Data: Clear Differences Between German States – This Is the Share of Refugees Actually Working

 

According to the Federal Employment Agency, less than half of refugees from eight major countries are actually employed. The national average as of August 2025 is 49.2%.

• Western Germany: 49.7%

• Eastern Germany: 46.5%

The statistics cover refugees from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, and Syria. The differences reflect variations in local labor markets and integration programs.
