Germany: Police Use Helicopter to Remove Hundreds from Dangerous Ice in Berlin and Brandenburg

On Saturday, police in Berlin and Brandenburg intervened after hundreds of people ignored warnings and walked onto frozen lakes and bays.

Around 80 people were on Lake Zeuthener, while between 200 and 300 people gathered on the ice at Rummelsburger Bay in Berlin.

Police deployed a helicopter to broadcast warnings from above, urging people to leave the ice.

All individuals were safely removed. Authorities stressed that all frozen waters in the region are unsafe and should not be entered.
