Merz in India: Historic Trade Deal with Asian Giant Nears Completion

On his first official visit to India, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that the EU and India are close to signing a historic free trade agreement, possibly by the end of January. He noted that the presidents of the European Commission and Council will travel to India to finalize the deal if negotiations conclude in time. Merz called it a “major step” toward securing the agreement.
