Study: One in Five Germans Considering Emigration

A study by the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) found that 21% of Germany’s population is considering leaving the country. Among Germans without migration background, the figure is 17%, while it rises to 34% among those with migration background and 37% among their children. Conducted between summer 2024 and summer 2025 with 2,933 participants, the survey revealed a notable 10-point increase in emigration thoughts among migrants and their children ahead of the February 2025 parliamentary elections.
