North Rhine-Westphalia is experiencing a severe winter. Heavy snowfall and icy roads have led to multiple accidents and widespread traffic congestion.

Several highways and regional roads were temporarily blocked, with emergency services responding to dozens of incidents. Police described the situation as “extremely challenging” and urged drivers to exercise caution.
