Young Bayern Munich player Lennart Karl has revealed his desire to one day play for Real Madrid.
Thanks to his magical left foot and relatively short stature, Karl has been compared to Argentine legend Lionel Messi. Despite the hype, Karl remains calm, telling Sky: “I’m happy people compare me to Messi, but personally I don’t see it. Messi is at the very top, and I still have a long way to go. He’s my role model.”
On Sunday, Karl said: “Of course Bayern Munich is a huge club. It’s a dream to play here. But someday I want to go to Real Madrid. That’s my dream club, though I keep that to myself.”
Karl, 17, began his career in Bayern Munich’s academy and joined the first team this season, scoring six goals and providing two assists in 22 appearances. His contract runs until 2028.
According to Transfermarkt, his market value is estimated at €60 million ($70 million). He is also considered a candidate for Germany’s World Cup squad, though he has not yet received a call-up.
