Germany and 13 Other Countries Condemn Israel’s Settlement Plan in the West Bank

Germany and 13 other countries strongly condemned Israel’s decision to approve 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank.

In a joint statement issued Wednesday (December 24, 2025), the countries urged Israel to reverse the decision and halt settlement expansion.

The signatories included Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The statement, published by Germany’s Foreign Ministry and others, stressed that such unilateral actions not only violate international law but also fuel instability in the region.

The countries reaffirmed their opposition to any form of annexation and expansion of settlement policies.
