Publication date: 2025-12-24

Germany has rescued 141 Afghan nationals from imminent deportation to Afghanistan following pressure from Pakistani authorities.

The Afghans, who no longer had secure residency status in Pakistan, were flown to Germany, where they will receive protection. Deportation to Afghanistan would have exposed them to persecution by the Taliban.

The German government stated that most of those evacuated are vulnerable individuals, including former local staff and human rights activists.
