Cold wave hits Germany at the start of winter – warnings of ice and heavy snowfall

 

Germany is facing a severe cold wave as winter begins, with temperatures dropping sharply below freezing in many areas.

The German Weather Service (DWD) issued warnings about dangerous icy conditions caused by freezing rain, as well as heavy snowfall in several regions.

Bavaria and Saxony are among the hardest-hit states, with roads and sidewalks already covered in ice.

Authorities urged drivers and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution, use winter equipment, and drive at reduced speeds to avoid accidents.
