Publication date: 2025-12-22

Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office announced that since the beginning of 2025 until mid-December, more than 1,000 suspicious drone flights have been recorded across the country. Most incidents targeted military facilities and airports, as well as critical infrastructure such as defense companies and ports.

BKA President Holger Münch told Bild newspaper on Sunday (December 21, 2025) that the agency is preparing a nationwide assessment of these cases, using all available data and coordinating with the armed forces.

Münch stressed that identifying the operators of these drones is extremely difficult, adding that it cannot be definitively linked to Russia.

Meanwhile, the German army successfully tested warheads as part of its program to develop new combat drones.
