German police announced that since the beginning of this year, hundreds of suspicious drones have been detected in German airspace, with Berlin already taking steps to address the security challenge.

Holger Münch, head of the Federal Criminal Police Office, stated that authorities recorded more than 1,000 suspicious drone flights up to mid-December. He noted that the agency is working with the armed forces to prepare a comprehensive assessment of these incidents.

Münch explained that the drones repeatedly targeted sensitive security and military sites, including army bases, airports, and vital infrastructure such as ports and defense industry companies.

When asked about speculation linking the incidents to Russia, the German official stressed that it is difficult to confirm due to the complex challenges of identifying operators or reaching them for questioning.
