Fake snow on car door exposes drug smuggling at German border

Publication date: 2025-12-18

On November 22, German federal police stopped a vehicle at the Hörbranz checkpoint on the A96 motorway after noticing unusual traces on the car, which later turned out to be drug residue rather than real snow.

The car carried four passengers of different nationalities. Officers immediately detected a strong smell of cannabis when the doors were opened. The driver was a 31-year-old man from Kosovo, while two passengers aged 23 and 18 did not have valid entry papers for Germany.

During the search, police found a knife in the driver’s coat, cannabis residue in a grinder belonging to the front-seat passenger, four grams of hashish with the youngest passenger, and another portion of hashish hidden inside a ring worn by the fourth occupant.
