US President Donald Trump has dispatched his envoy Steve Witkoff to Berlin for discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders on ending the war with Russia.
A senior US official confirmed Witkoff’s trip but gave no details on the timing or format of the meetings. Zelensky is expected to arrive in Berlin on Monday to meet German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as well as EU and NATO leaders.
The US administration unveiled a peace plan in November, initiated by Trump, which has since been under negotiation. Trump has been pressing Ukraine to accept concessions, arguing that Kyiv is militarily disadvantaged against Russia.
