An unusual incident occurred in Mannheim on Friday afternoon when a light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in the middle of a city street after suspected engine trouble.
The plane landed around 4 p.m. on Neckarauer Straße near the main train station. On board were two men and a woman, all of whom managed to exit the aircraft safely. The pilot sustained minor injuries, and all three passengers were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police reported that the pilot maneuvered the plane with difficulty between two parked cars before coming to a stop. The aircraft suffered significant damage. Firefighters, paramedics, and police responded to the scene.
The emergency landing caused temporary road closures in both directions and heavy traffic disruptions. Tram services were also severely affected.
