Authorities in Germany carried out large-scale raids in the states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, targeting around 50 individuals of Syrian origin suspected of forging German passports and identity documents to help relatives enter the country illegally.
Police said some of the suspects also hold German citizenship. Investigations suggest they falsely reported their passports as lost, applied for new documents, and used photos of relatives – including women – to enable family members to travel and enter Germany with the forged papers.
The case remains under investigation, and prosecutors are examining further steps. So far, there is no evidence of involvement by organized criminal networks.
