Two young women, aged 18 and 19, were brutally attacked on Friday evening inside a tram in Bremen after sharing a kiss.
According to police, a 25-year-old man hurled homophobic insults at them before physically assaulting them. One of the victims lost consciousness and was kicked while lying on the ground.
Both women were taken to hospital for treatment. Criminal police are investigating the case as serious bodily harm, while state security is examining whether the attack was motivated by hate related to sexual orientation.
