The Federal Court in Karlsruhe has ordered the pre-trial detention of Ukrainian national Serhiy K., following his extradition from Italy. He is suspected of involvement in the 2022 explosions that damaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. Kuznetsov was arrested in August in Italy’s Rimini province under a European arrest warrant before being handed over to German authorities. A spokeswoman for the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said a judge at the Federal Court in Karlsruhe ordered the detention of Serhiy K., noting that German privacy laws prohibit the disclosure of his full name.
