Publication date: 2025-11-26

A serious accident occurred in Düsseldorf’s Holthausen district on Wednesday morning (November 26, 2025), when a U72 tram derailed around 5:40 a.m. on Bonner Straße and collided with another tram. Police reported that 13 people were injured, including the driver. One person sustained serious injuries, though none are life-threatening. Initial investigations suggest the derailment was caused by a technical fault in the signal system or an incorrect switch setting. Nine of the injured were taken to hospital, while others received treatment at the scene. Emergency services worked for several hours to clear the site, and tram operations were temporarily suspended.
