Bavaria records sharp drop in asylum applications – down 58% in one year

According to Bavaria’s Interior Ministry, asylum applications fell significantly in 2025. By the end of October, around 11,700 applications were filed compared to 27,600 in 2024 – a 58% decrease. The number of residents in asylum centers also declined to about 126,000 by mid-November, 12,000 fewer than at the start of the year. Federal migration office data shows 13,053 applications were registered by October 31, compared to 31,412 in the same period last year.
